Our Mission
In effort to make Madeira a more inclusive environment for everyone, we started a club to include a community that not many people know about. At some point in your life, you will meet someone who is deaf, hard of hearing(hoh), or mute. Our goal is to help you learn how to better communicate with these people and learn about the deaf and hoh culture and community. We want this to be a fun and enlightening experience!
What Does Being Member Look Like?
We plan to have meetings twice a month where we can practice signing, learn about the deaf and hoh communities, play games, and make friends! If you can't attend a meeting or you want to do more, we will have online resources available on our schoology page at your disposal.
Who We Are
Corry Dragoo (they/them)
President
Corry loves to spend their time doing art, playing Minecraft with their friends, and learning new things. They have two dogs named Mia and Sullivan.
Madie Nahrgang (she/her)
Vice President
Madie is involved lots of different things, including band and soccer. Madie also has a wonderful cat named Stoli.
Caroline Harrison (she/her)
Secretary
Caroline has a dog and a hedgehog named Quill Smith. Her favorite color is blue, and her favorite food is sushi.
Em Rouse (she/they)
Historian
Em is the current historian of the ASL Club! They love music and play three instruments, plus, have two dogs. She's also super passionate about spreading awareness and helping out in their community!
Sofia Rane (she/her)
Co-Treasurer
Sofia likes to play Magic the Gathering and quote Star Wars. She’s also very psyched to learn ASL with everyone this year! :)
Audrey Chalfie (she/her)
Co-Treasurer
Audrey is the co-treasurer of the ALS Club and is also on the golf team. She plays the saxophone in marching band and has a dog named Shiitake.
Kate Donnellan (she/her)
Outreach/Coordination Officer
Kate is a sophomore who plays alto sax in the marching band. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and two dogs.
Kennedy Cunningham (she/her)
Outreach/Coordination Officer
Kennedy enjoys spending time with family and friends. She is also an athlete and member of the band.
